Most of what I create starts the same way: I become completely obsessed with a Star Wars character or idea, convince myself I can somehow pull it off, and then spend the next several weeks surrounded by paint, fabric scraps, reference photos, unfinished armor pieces, and an unreasonable number of late-night editing sessions trying to bring it to life.
A huge part of this journey has been teaching myself things I never expected to learn like sewing, fabrication, 3d modeling and printing, prop work, makeup artistry (and BALD caps omg), lightsaber choreography, filming, editing, and all the chaos that comes with trying to build immersive character work from the ground up. A lot of it has been trial and error, learning as I go, and honestly just refusing to give up on ideas that probably sounded ridiculous when they first lived in my head.
While I absolutely love the finished photos and cinematic side of creating, some of my favorite parts of all of this have come from the Star Wars community itself. I have found "my space family" as I like to call it! Through conventions, cosplay groups, and organizations like joining the 501st, I’ve had the privilege to meet some incredibly talented, creative, and genuinely kind people who share the same love for this universe that I do.
One of the things I value most about the fandom is the way Star Wars brings people together across generations and backgrounds. Some of my favorite memories have come from convention floors, random behind-the-scenes moments, group photos, finally meeting internet friends in real life, making people laugh in costume, and seeing how much these characters mean to fans of all ages.
Outside of the polished edits and finished costumes, there’s also a very real side to all of this. The failed builds, the makeup disasters, the stress, the last-minute fixes, the con crunch's, and the occasional “why did I decide to do this to myself?” moment. But honestly, that’s part of what makes it so fun and rewarding.
At the end of the day, I just genuinely love creating, connecting with fellow fans, and contributing to a part of the Star Wars community that feels creative, welcoming, positive, and fun for everyone involved.
